L.I.F.E.
is a not-for-profit organization that works in socially
impoverished neighborhoods where people are often homeless.
The objective is to raise the children's standard of living
and their environment, giving them new opportunities that
will allow them to develop better.
For
the most part, our activities take place in the west of
Buenos Aires and the urban cone, specifically in LA MATANZA
and ESTEBAN ECHEVERRIA. We also periodically provide humanitarian
assistance in an indigenous village situated 1500 kilometers
from Buenos Aires, in the Misiones jungle.
Peruti
is an indigenous Guarani village in the middle of the jungle
on the Route 12 in the province of Misiones, northeast of
Argentina, 1,500 kms. away from Buenos Aires City. This
community has a population of 492 people consisting of 87
families who live in state of abject poverty. Over 75% of
the children in Peruti suffer the consequences of malnourishment
to some extent.
Role
as a volunteer
The
objective is to provide drinking water for this socially
excluded ethnic group and therefore reduce childhood mortality,
skin diseases and other diseases related to poor levels
of hygiene and sanitation.
You
will be involved in a variety of different tasks including
events in different orphanages, community centers and soup
kitchens for kids. Once a month there is a birthday party
for all the children in each of the institutions we work
with to celebrate the birthdays of that month.
The
program consists of putting up decorations with balloons
and party ornaments, entertainment with clowns, music, games
and dancing, a snack, birthday cakes with candles, birthday
presents and photo souvenirs- often the only photo they
will have of themselves.

seeks to promote and strengthen the community development
of the girls, boys, adolescents, youth, and families of
the Villa Lugano and Mataderos neighborhoods. We are committed
to creating spaces for recreation, occupational training,
and educational, cultural and community activities.
