Asylum Seeker Resource Centre - Human Rights Australia

Information

Minimum 6 months police check will be required for most positions.

Volunteers are also asked to attend training/induction sessions and information sessions. Australia's largest asylum seeker aid, health and advocacy organisation current programs are: advocacy, campaigns, casework, community release, counseling, drop in, education, employment, English as a Second Language, food bank, health, recreation, research.

Since opening our doors in June 2001, the ASRC has become the largest provider of aid, advocacy and health services for asylum seekers in Australia. They work directly with asylum seekers, living both in our community and in detention, to provide direct aid and support.

We also campaign and lobby on behalf of asylum seekers and all Australians who want to change the unjust asylum seeker related policies Australia has adopted. To keep the centre running, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre needs dedicated admin/office staff.

Tasks will include meeting, greeting, answering phones, sending mail, typing, filing & many other varied duties. There are a number of opportunities to get involved with community work at ASRC, such as case work, advocacy, employment, outreach, food bank, and general helping hands.

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre welcomes volunteers from all over the world. There are currently over 500 volunteers ranging in age from 15 to 83. They are looking for people who are passionate about human rights and making Australia a more humane and just place for asylum seekers.

Volunteers at the ASRC get to do a wide array of hands on, life-changing work with asylum seekers.
