Likoni

Likoni Aids Orphanage is home to children and teen-agers of both sexes aged between five and eighteen years. The orphanage was created in the year 2000 with a number of 12 boys and girls. Today the number of children has grown to 47. Most of the children became orphans because of their parents dying of AIDS.

The children of the orphanage are always happy to welcome volunteers who wish to donate some of their time in this sharing experience. If you have particular skills which you can bring to the orphanage is all the better but even only simple things will do, such as knowing a song or two, a game, a rhyme etc that you can teach to the children.

All you need, really, is a great love for children, an open mind, adaptability and lots of enthusiasm. Leave your prejudices at home and bring instead lots of energy.

It is 75 euros a week to cover food and accommodation when you get there, with no hidden fees. Donations to the orphanage are welcomed in the form of money, clothes or food.
