Ayni
is a very small grassroots organization based in Piura,
Nothern Peru. The school year is divided into two semesters,
April - July and August - December. We prefer you to stay
from beginning to end of one of these semesters or the full
year, to strengthen the program and lessen the disruption
in the transition of volunteers. However, if you can only
commit to a shorter period, we are flexible and still interested
in your application. If arriving in time for a new semester,
plan on coming at least a week before term starts to settle
in a little before classes begin.

Are
you looking for free voluntary work in Peru? Would you like
to have a godchild in Peru? Would you like to help from
home by donating some money without it being wasted on marketing
or administration?
It
doesn´t matter if you want to join the administration in
Germany or England, if you like to help with the coordination
with Peru or if you prefer to work voluntarily with the
children in Peru, we are sure that we can combine your skills
and experience with our needs. However, the active help
in Peru seems to be the highlight for voluntary workers.
This
job is not only the most important but the most exciting
one as well! Many of our volunteers who are spending their
gap year traveling in Peru combine their travels with some
social work and join us. Because of our flexibility and
the fact that you will have no obligations, it is that easy
to combine traveling and helping! All in all, it is a unique
chance for a unique experience!
You
will find further information about the projects abroad
under the menu point “voluntary work ”.

These organizations work with homeless children, woman suffering
domestic violence and nature.
Remember,
we offer VOLUNTER WORK FOR FREE. Our volunteering programmes
are divided into three main topics, children, women and
nature (plants and animals).

The
mission was set up in 2003 and the aim of the mission is
to provide a safe place for children living in extreme poverty
to learn and eat (breakfast, a fruit snack and lunch).
Currently,
130 children, aged 2 - 14, attend Elohim from 8.30am to
2pm. There is a high level of illiteracy among the parents
and many of them are alcoholic and/or unemployed. The
children face many problems such as physical, mental and
sexual abuse, malnutrition and the dangers of working on
the streets at night.
Volunteering
at the school - The children love to have visitors
and the teachers always welcome a bit of a break so if you
are in Arequipa and have some time to spare please write
to the email address below.
The
children especially enjoy making things, colouring in pictures
and learning English. Don't worry if your Spanish isn't
great, it's easy to get by on enthusiasm, pictures and hand
gestures! At the moment I (Jay) am around so I can take
you up there and help you out with anything you need.
For
those who would like to stay longer, we have developed a
month long volunteer program which includes accommodation
in a family home, Spanish lessons and a donation to Elohim.
