The
Inspire company was set up to provide the bridge to developing
countries for like minded people to be able donate their
skills and resources. The goal is to send people with
skills to Kenya and Sri Lanka to benefit real places that
really need them and have fun at the same time.
The
firm started in 2006 by Mathew Muckle and Catherine Muckle
as Inspire Kenya. Since then we have recently expanded
to Sri Lanka to conduct similar programs to the ones that
operating in Kenya that have proven a great success. Both
Mathew and Catherine have spent many months volunteering
themselves and have organised many personal projects in
both countries as well as India and Nepal.
Inspire
are not Gap year or voluntourism orientated. Unlike some
major volunteer companies Inspire don't have sole contracts
with their placements. Inspire believe this practice is
unethical. It means for example that a children's home
has to sign a contract so no other volunteer companies
can send people.
This
practice is clearly in the interest of the company but
not always of the placement. This is a very important
point that most volunteers overlook when decided who to
use.
Inspire
believe in informal, personal experiences so that people
can interact with locals and live with them, thus gaining
a greater understanding of developing countries and the
issues affecting them on a daily basis.
We
believe in an honest up front approach so volunteers have
all the necessary and accurate information before booking.
